Tobias defended his thesis with flying colours and became the first PhD  to graduate from the group. We couldn't be much prouder. His hat keeps a  certain colour code to indicate a slight preference for a NRW-based  football club.

Julijans and Tobias' manuscript on meutral half-sandwich compound of  divalent Germanium and Tin with a dianionic borole π-ligand was accepted  and published in Chem. Commun. and will be part of the special themed  issue on "Boron Chemistry in the 21st Century: From Synthetic  Curiosities to Functional Molecules." You may find the manuscript here.

Christian was invited to give a talk at the GDCh Seminar Series in Bremen. I greatly enjoyed to finally give an "in-person" talk again and excellent meetings with colleagues in Bremen.

Most of our lab equipment took a ride with an RWTH lorry from Göttingen to Aachen. Sad to say goodbye with so many fond memories and experiences of Göttingen with great mentors and excellent support, friends and colleagues and students. Thank you everybody. We are now looking forward to (re-)building the lab in Aachen. But first one needed to regenerate from quite stressful moving.

The group received and Exploration Grant by the Boehringer Ingelheim Stiftung (Foundation) to explore new bond activation pathways harnessing borole moeties. We are grateful for this excellent support of our research.

01/10/2021
Christian officially starts the new position as Junior Professor at RWTH Aachen University.  Exciting times!

Tobias und Leonard were able to make and deprotonate a methyl-borole. The first insights into the chemistry of the resulting boratafulvene have now been accepted for publication in Angewandte Chemie. Check it out, it's open access!

Great efforts and skillful experimental work by Tobias, Julijan,  Leonard, Maxim and all research interns build the foundations for our  group to receive one of the ADUC awards in 2021 at the digital  Chemiedozententagung "in Rostock". Big thanks to all team members,  nominators, and funders and mentors that grant us the freedom to pursue  our synthetic endeavours. A short overview on our recent works are  summarized in the Nachrichten aus der Chemie (German only!).

For the last time me and Christian Hering-Junghans went through the 2020 literature to put together the "Trendberichte" in molecular inorganic chemistry which can be found in the Nachrichten aus der Chemie. Exciting times, beautiful molecules and thanks! Christian for the splendid collaboration and communication over the years.

Maxim hands in his MSc thesis and Julijan starts his PhD in our group as part of the BENCh research training group in Göttingen. Exciting start to a New Year 2021.

Right before the Christmas lockdown the last few experimental results for the Master theses were hastily collected. Good luck, writing all up! Julijan hands in his MSc thesis (in Bielefeld).

08/2020
Our report on the first cationic borole incl. its CO-complex is published in Chem. Eur. J. along with a beautiful Cover Feature . Big thanks to everyone involved (and for being eligible for Open Access publishing)!

07/2020
Julijan's extended scientific research stay with our group was finally approved. Great news and welcome (again) to Göttingen! Maxim leaves his homeoffice to start working on a MSc project with us. Bonne Chance! Exciting times ahead.

Carefully, keeping our distances and wearing "mouth-nose-covers" we are grateful to be allowed back in the lab at reduced operations.

03/2020
We try our best to stay at home and get something done.
02/2020
Tobias' und Leonard's report on the synthesis and properties of 2,5-Disilyl-substituted Boroles was accepted in Dalton Transactions.
